If it’s caught before it spreads outside of the pancreas, then treatment is possible. This makes early diagnosis critical. If you feel your diagnosis was delayed or missed altogether, First4Lawyers could help.

What is pancreatic cancer?

The pancreas is part of the digestive system. It’s a gland responsible for producing digestive enzymes and hormones that regulate blood sugar.

If cells start to multiply uncontrollably, cancerous tumours can form.

There are different types of pancreatic cancer, but the most common is pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). It occurs most often in people aged 50 and over.

Treatment depends on the type and stage of cancer, but can include:

  • Surgery to remove the cancer/tumours
  • Chemotherapy
  • Surgery to treat the symptoms
  • Radiotherapy, either on its own or with chemotherapy

When can you make a pancreatic cancer claim?

Because it’s so important to catch pancreatic cancer at an early stage, any unnecessary delays or preventable errors could cost you dearly.

If you have received medical investigations or care that was below the expected standard, you may have a medical negligence claim. This includes:

  • Misdiagnosis
  • Symptoms were missed or not referred to an appropriate specialist
  • Test results were incorrectly analysed
  • The wrong surgery was carried out

How can First4Lawyers help?

Our specialists know the ins and outs of making claims like these and are here to support you.

They have many years’ experience in presenting a case to help you achieve maximum compensation. We also offer a No Win No Fee service for medical negligence claims in England and Wales.

Only pay a fee if you receive compensation

Our No Win No Fee solicitors will take a success fee from the compensation you are awarded for a successful claim in the form of a percentage of your damages. This could be up to 25% but it won't be more than that, except in cases of road traffic accidents. Changing laws mean our solicitors will now take a payment of 30% of the final compensation amount plus VAT for all road traffic accident claims.

First4Lawyers are an award-winning claims management company with a track record of delivering service that our clients love.

How much compensation will I receive?

Medical negligence cases can be very complex and no two claims are the same, so it’s impossible to give figures.

However, awards look at the severity of your illness, the prognosis, whether you will be able to carry on working and the financial aspects, like costs of treatment and loss of earnings.

Is there a time limit for making a claim?

You normally have three years from the date you became aware of negligent treatment. There are some exceptions to this, so it’s best if you get in touch as soon as possible.

I think I have a claim, what do I do next?

Get in touch with us for a free consultation. You can fill in our claim form, call us or we can call you at time to suit. We’ll discuss your situation with you and outline your options.

There’s no pressure to make a claim – we just advise you of any steps you can take. It’s then your choice.
